The Alcazar Hotel, built to look like Flagler's Florida

Harry T. Jeffery finished this five storey pentagon in 1923 as a residential hotel for the new streetcar suburb, copying the Spanish-Moorish look Henry Flagler had used for the Alcazar and the Ponce de Leon in St Augustine. Its 175 apartments came with housekeeping attached, sold to households that wanted the service without keeping a servant. The hexagonal lobby still holds its glazed tile and its fountain pool, and the building went on the National Register in 1979.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
