The Seguine Mansion
1838
Prince's Bay, Staten Island

Joseph Seguine built this white columned Greek Revival house above Lemon Creek in 1838 and put up a hay barn, carriage house and stables behind it. His family had held the land since the 1780s and he founded the Staten Island Railroad among other ventures. It is one of the few pieces of nineteenth century South Shore life left standing, and is open as a historic house.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
