The Scottish Rite Hospital for Crippled Children starts in a rented Decatur cottage
1915
South Candler Street, Decatur, Georgia
The Scottish Rite Convalescent Home opened in a rented Decatur cottage with six beds, taking in children who could not pay and children still recovering from surgery at Atlanta's hospitals. Michael Hoke was its first medical director. It grew into a campus, six buildings of which are on the National Register, and it later merged with Egleston to form Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
