The Rainbow Music Hall, a movie theatre Barry Fey gutted into a rock club
1979
Denver, Colorado
Promoter Barry Fey took a three screen cinema at Monaco and Evans, knocked out the walls between the auditoriums and opened a lopsided 1,485 seat room in 1979 where nobody sat more than about 70 feet from the stage. For ten years it caught touring acts on the way up or on the way through, from Bob Dylan to Black Flag, and U2 played their first Denver show here in 1981. Journey recorded a live set on its second night open. It closed in 1989 and the building was replaced by a drugstore.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
