The Phillips K-Resin unit explodes eleven years after the disaster

A tank in the plant's K-Resin unit was out of service for cleaning on 27 March 2000, fitted with no pressure or temperature gauge that would have told anyone what was building inside it. It burst just after one in the afternoon, killed one worker and injured 71, and the fire pushed black smoke over the ship channel and the streets beside it. This was the second fatal blast at the same Phillips complex in eleven years, after the 1989 explosion that killed 23 a few hundred metres away.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
