The Buckman Bridge opened in 1970 and put rural Clay County within commuting distance of Jacksonville's south bank, and the enclosed mall followed in October 1975 with Ivey's, May Cohen's and Sears under one roof. It was only the second indoor shopping mall in the Jacksonville area. Two of the tenants that opened with it, Zales and Spencer's, are still trading from the spots they took in 1975.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
