River Roads Mall, one of the first enclosed malls in the country
1962
Jennings, Missouri
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
River Roads opened in Jennings in 1962 with JCPenney, Woolworth, Kroger and Stix, Baer and Fuller, early enough to count among the first enclosed shopping malls in America. Anchors began leaving in the early 1980s and the remaining tenants drained away through the 1990s. The buildings were torn down and the site cleared.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
