The Buckman Bridge crosses three miles of the St Johns
1970
Jacksonville, Florida
The bridge opened in 1970, runs about three miles bank to bank and closed the western side of the beltway that is now Interstate 295. It carries the name of Henry Holland Buckman, the Duval County legislator behind the 1905 act that folded Florida's scattered colleges into three state schools, one for white men, one for white women and one for Black students. It is the main link between Clay County and Jacksonville's south side.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
