The Old Stone Church, saved by the society that formed to save it

Lemont's Methodists built this church in 1861 out of the same quarried dolomite the village was shipping to Chicago by canal barge. It long outlived the congregation. A group of residents organised in 1970 specifically to keep the building from coming down, and the Lemont Area Historical Society has run its museum, tours and lectures out of it since.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
