The First Methodist Church of Batavia spends longer as a schoolhouse than as a church

Batavia Methodists put up this Greek Revival building in 1852 and worshipped in it until the 1880s. After the congregation moved on it became the McWayne School Annex, and classes were still being held there in 1978, which is more than a century of schooling against about thirty years of church. It was listed on the National Register in 1982.
