The Biodesign Institute and Arizona's first saliva COVID test
2003
Tempe, Arizona
ASU founded the Biodesign Institute on its Tempe campus in 2003 to run health, sustainability and security research out of one building complex rather than out of separate departments. In May 2020 a team there produced the first saliva-based coronavirus test in Arizona, and the university went on to process more than 1.5 million of them. The institute now runs more than a dozen research centres.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
