The Moore-Irwin House, General Muhlenberg's Valley Forge quarters
1777
King of Prussia, Pennsylvania
John and Jane Moore handed their estate to the Continental Army for the winter of 1777 to 1778, and Washington assigned it to General Peter Muhlenberg for the length of the Valley Forge encampment. Washington came back in 1787 during a break in the Constitutional Convention and met Gouverneur Morris and Robert Morris here. Upper Merion Township bought the house in 1972. It has stood empty since 1992 and now sits on the state's at risk list.
