Hope Lodge serves as a hospital during the Whitemarsh encampment
1777
Hope Lodge, Fort Washington, Pennsylvania
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Quaker businessman Samuel Morris had this Georgian house built on the Bethlehem Pike in the 1740s. When Washington's army camped at Whitemarsh from November into December 1777, the army's surgeon general John Cochran used the house as a hospital and Nathanael Greene took quarters in it. It was listed on the National Register in 1972 and is open to visitors as a museum.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
