The Joliet East Side, platted as Juliet
1834
East Side, Joliet, Illinois

James B. Campbell platted the first lots on this side of the river in 1834 and named the place Juliet. The beds of limestone underneath were the reason anyone settled here, and the stone went into the Old State Capitol and the Chicago Water Tower. The district still holds 281 contributing buildings.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
