Christopher Clark Hyatt bought land beside the Baltimore and Ohio tracks and the Washington turnpike in 1845, and the town that took his name incorporated in 1886. The streetcar reached it from Washington in 1893 and the building went up in earnest. The historic district covers roughly six hundred structures, mostly frame houses, running from Second Empire and Queen Anne through to bungalows.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
