The Galena Hotel, the oldest hotel still standing in Aurora
1862
Aurora, Illinois
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Built in 1862 as the Fox River House, this is the oldest hotel building left in Aurora. It went up when the town was a working stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy and travellers wanted a bed within walking distance of the depot rather than a night in a railway carriage. It was listed on the National Register in 1976.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
