Henry Ford put a hotel across the road from his own airfield because passengers stepping off a Ford Trimotor had nowhere to sleep. Albert Kahn designed it in Georgian brick and it opened in 1931 as one of the first hotels anywhere built for air travellers. The airport shut in 1947. The inn is still taking guests and reopened in 2025 after a two year renovation.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
