The Como Shops, where Northern Pacific rebuilt its locomotives
1885
Saint Paul, Minnesota
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Northern Pacific opened its repair shops at Lexington and Como in 1885, and for decades the yard rebuilt the railway's engines and cars a few miles from downtown. The shops closed and the buildings were converted in 1984 into a festival marketplace named Bandana Square, which never worked as retail and is now offices. A model railroad museum occupied part of the complex from 1984 until 2016.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
