The Chalmette ferry is the last car crossing at New Orleans
1969
Chalmette, Louisiana
Infrogmation · CC BY 2.5 · Wikimedia Commons
This ferry has run between Chalmette and Lower Algiers since 1969, joining a stretch of west bank that has no bridge for miles in either direction. It is the only crossing left at New Orleans that carries cars, since the Canal Street run upriver takes foot passengers only. The trip takes a few minutes and is still part of the regional transit system.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
