The Centinela Adobe and Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela

Ygnacio Machado built this adobe in 1834 at the springs that watered the Centinela Valley, and it became the seat of a Mexican land grant of about 25,000 acres. The rancho passed to a Scottish owner and then to Daniel Freeman, who cut Inglewood out of it in the 1880s. The house is the oldest building left in the valley and is kept as a museum.
