Casa Adobe de San Rafael, built by a Los Angeles County sheriff
1865
Glendale, California
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Tomas Avila Sanchez, sheriff of Los Angeles County, built this adobe in 1865 on land carved out of Rancho San Rafael. That rancho was the first Spanish land grant in California, given to Jose Maria Verdugo in 1784 and running to more than 36,000 acres. The house has been in continuous use since it was built and became a California Historic Landmark in 1935.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
