Andrew Carnegie put up this building six years after the strike at his mill down the hill. Under one roof it holds the book collection, a 1,047 seat music hall and an athletic club with a heated indoor pool, and mill families used all three. It opened in November 1898 and is the third oldest Carnegie library in the United States still operating in its original structure.
