The boiler works that gave Kendall Square its name

Edward Kendall started making steam boilers on Third Street in 1880, and the square around the works took his name. The low brick building is part of the Blake and Knowles Steam Pump National Register district. The company left for Chelmsford in the twentieth century, so the most expensive laboratory real estate in the country is still named after a boilermaker.
