The Belleville Turnpike Bridge, fourth crossing at one bend
2002
Kearny, New Jersey
Famartin · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
This vertical lift span carries Route 7 across the Passaic River about nine miles upstream from Newark Bay. It opened in 2002 and is the fourth fixed crossing built at the same bend, a place that has been bridged far longer than any single structure standing there has lasted. Its deck is also a tripoint, where the lines of Kearny in Hudson County, Belleville in Essex and North Arlington in Bergen all come together over open water.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
