Riley Bartholomew claimed land on the shore of Wood Lake and built this house in 1852, when Richfield was truck farms selling vegetables into Minneapolis. The Richfield Historical Society formed in 1967 specifically to save it and runs it as a museum. It is the surviving physical trace of the farming town that ten thousand postwar ramblers replaced in a single decade.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
