The floating span carrying State Route 520 across Lake Washington runs 7,710 feet, longer than any other floating bridge anywhere, and at 116 feet across the middle it is also the widest. It opened in 2016 and replaced a four lane span from 1963 that was shorter and known to be vulnerable to earthquakes and high wind. Tolls are collected electronically. The lake here is too deep and too soft on the bottom for a conventional bridge.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
