Quincy, Massachusetts

A track crew left a jack sitting on the rail on 19 August 1890 and the train that hit it killed 23 people. It was the second bad wreck in the city, after one at Wollaston twelve years earlier. The foreman was charged with manslaughter and the jury could not agree on a verdict.
