The stadium opened in 1958 wedged into a gap between two buttes and grew to hold nearly 75,000 by 1989. The NFL Cardinals moved in when they left St Louis and stayed until a stadium of their own opened in Glendale, and Super Bowl XXX was played here in 1996. The field carries the name of coach Frank Kush and the building was renamed Mountain America Stadium in 2023.
