Arlington Stadium grows from a minor league bowl into the big leagues
1972
Arlington, Texas

The city sank Turnpike Stadium into a gravel pit in 1965 for minor league baseball, then kept expanding it as bait for a major league club. The Washington Senators moved in for the 1972 season as the Texas Rangers and played here until 1993. Most of the seating stayed aluminium bleachers to the end, and the park was torn down once the replacement opened next door.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
