St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Carpenter Gothic on Dogwood Road
1873
Woodlawn, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Baltimore firm of Dixon and Carson designed this small church at 5610 Dogwood Road and it was built in 1873. The steeply pitched gable, board and batten siding, lancet windows and arched side entry are the standard vocabulary of Carpenter Gothic. It went up in open county nearly a century before the federal office campuses arrived down the road.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
