Slater memorised the design of British spinning machinery, which it was illegal to export or to leave the country knowing, and sailed in disguise as a farmhand. The water-powered mill he built on the Blackstone started the American industrial revolution, and staffed itself with children, seven of the first nine hands being under twelve.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
