Royal Oak Memorial Park
1939
Royal Oak, Michigan
Twenty four acres dedicated in 1939 to Michigan service members who died in uniform, laid out as an ordinary municipal park with ballfields, tennis courts and a picnic pavilion. It is the kind of memorial a growing suburb built in the years right before the war that filled it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
