Romeo station, the Santa Fe stop that took 90 years to come back
2018
Romeoville, Illinois
The Santa Fe listed this stop as Romeo on its timetables, after the village's original name, and put it beside the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Passenger service ended and freight kept running past the empty site on what is now the double track Southern Transcon. Metra broke ground on a replacement in May 2017, on land belonging to the refinery between Lemont and Lockport, and opened the new Romeoville station on 3 February 2018.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
