Newark Airport builds the first airline terminal
1935
Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey

Newark Metropolitan opened on marshland on 1 October 1928 with the first hard surfaced runway at any commercial airport in the country, and by 1930 it was the busiest airport in the world. The Art Deco administration building went up with federal money in 1934 and Amelia Earhart dedicated it in 1935. It was the first building anywhere built to move airline passengers rather than to house aeroplanes, with a control tower and the weather bureau under the same roof and a ten panel mural by Arshile Gorky on the walls. It survives on the airport as Building One.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
