Morningside secedes from Edina
1920
Edina, Minnesota
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Morningside filled in along the Como-Harriet streetcar line while the rest of Edina stayed farmland, and in 1920 its residents voted to break away and run their own village so they could pay for services a rural township would not provide. It stayed independent for decades before merging back into Edina. It still reads as a separate place, denser and on a tighter grid than anything around it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
