Meacham Field opens the first air-conditioned airline terminal
1925
North Fort Worth, Texas
Fort Worth leased a hundred acres on Decatur Road for a municipal airport in July 1925 and renamed it two years later for the former mayor H. C. Meacham. The first airmail left in May 1926 in a Curtiss Carrier Pigeon called Miss Fort Worth, and Charles Lindbergh landed here that year. The Art Moderne terminal and control tower dedicated in April 1937 were the first air-conditioned passenger terminal in the United States. It is a general aviation field today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
