Loew's Jersey, the Wonder Theatre that Journal Square refused to lose

Loew's built five Wonder Theatres around New York in 1929 and put exactly one outside the city limits, on Journal Square. Rapp and Rapp gave it a baroque interior for more than three thousand people and a Wonder Morton organ. Hartz Mountain bought it in 1986 to knock it down for a redevelopment site, and a volunteer group called Friends of the Loew's fought that for seven years until Jersey City bought the building in 1993 and let them start restoring it themselves.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
