The six Rubens brothers hired Rapp and Rapp, the architects behind Chicago's biggest movie houses, and dropped a Neo-Baroque vaudeville palace onto a working steel town's main street in 1926. By the mid 1970s it was close to demolition and a local campaign bought it back. It stands on an old alignment of Route 66.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
