Little Kennesaw Mountain, where it took a hundred men to move one gun
1864
Cobb County, Georgia
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Confederate crews dragged field artillery up this sub-peak in June 1864, roughly a hundred soldiers to a gun, and threw an earthwork around the battery called Fort McBride. For the next two weeks the guns up here and the Union artillery on the flat ground below spent their days firing at each other. Lieutenant Edward McBride, who commanded the position, was killed instantly by a Union shell on 23 June. Three Civil War cannon stand at the spot today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
