Kensico Reservoir, where New York's water is mixed
1885

Kensico is the last stop before the taps. Water arriving from the Catskill and Delaware aqueducts is blended and settled here before it runs south to the city, on top of what the reservoir's own Westchester watershed collects. The first dam went up in 1885, impounding the Bronx and Byram rivers, and was replaced by a far larger structure to handle the Catskill supply. Most of what New York City drinks passes through this one basin.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
