Hillview Reservoir, where the Catskill Aqueduct ends

New York City's Board of Water Supply built this ninety acre reservoir in southeastern Yonkers between 1909 and 1915 to receive water arriving from the Ashokan Reservoir down the new Catskill Aqueduct. It works as a balancing tank holding about 900 million gallons, so a steady flow off the aqueducts can meet a city demand that swings hour by hour. Water from both the Catskill and Delaware systems passes through here on its way into the five boroughs.
