Frank Shaver Allen built Joliet Township High School in 1901 out of rusticated Joliet limestone, with towers and battlements, and D.H. Burnham and Company added wings between 1908 and 1931. The country's first public community college started life inside these walls. It took the Central name once the township opened a second school.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
