Homewood's Illinois Central depot, built to match the golf club
1923

The Illinois Central built this depot in 1923 for the Panama Limited and the Seminole Limited and had two of its own engineers design it in Mission Revival, with a barrel tile roof, rough stucco walls and undulating parapets. The style was picked to sit well beside the Spanish Revival clubhouse at Ravisloe Country Club nearby. It is the only station the railroad built that way, and Amtrak still stops here.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
