Handley's power plant runs the Fort Worth to Dallas interurban

The Northern Texas Traction Company opened electric interurban service between Fort Worth and Dallas on 18 June 1902, and built the generating station that fed the line here in Handley. To supply the plant with water it dammed a creek into a small lake called Lake Erie, then in 1903 put a pavilion, a dance hall, a skating rink and rides on the shore and ran cars out to it as a trolley park. The interurban stopped in 1934. The lake and the pavilion are gone.
