Georgia Piedmont Technical College starts with eighteen students in electronics
1961
Clarkston, Georgia
The school opened in 1961 as DeKalb Area Technical School, run by the county board of education, with a first class of eighteen students studying electronics technology. It moved onto the Clarkston campus it still occupies in 1963. The name changed to Georgia Piedmont Technical College in 2014 to match a service area that now covers DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton counties, and it still teaches adult education and GED classes for free alongside the trade certificates.
