Sollers Point was Turner Station's segregated high school until 1966
1948
Dundalk, Maryland
Turner Station was the Black community that Sparrows Point steelworkers built when the company town would not house them, and Sollers Point, opened in 1948, was its high school under segregation. It was the smallest school in Baltimore County and graduated 44 students in its first class, but it had a gymnasium, a library and laboratories that the old Bragg school never had. The last class under segregation, 88 students, graduated in 1966. The school closed the following year and its students went to Dundalk. A technical magnet school carries the name today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
