In the early 1870s the Waxahachie Tap Road met the Houston and Texas Central here, and the junction turned a patch of prairie named for landowner William Garrett into the shipping point for a county full of cotton. Fifteen passenger trains a day passed through at the peak. By 1888 there were a hundred residents, fifteen businesses, four churches and a school. The population was 829 in 2020 and the trains do not stop.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
