In 1855 the farmer William B. Ferguson handed nine acres to the North Missouri Railroad on one condition: build a depot here and stop the trains at it. The stop was called Ferguson Station, and the town grew outward from it as he sold off the surrounding lots. Ferguson incorporated as a city in 1894, by then a commuter suburb tied to St. Louis by rail and streetcar.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
