William R. Howe took up land on Chambers Creek about 1843, six years before there was an Ellis County, and the settlement that grew around him was the first in what became the county. It was known at first as Chambers Creek, a name General Edward H. Tarrant gave the stream for Thomas J. Chambers, who held a large Mexican land grant nearby. Forreston never incorporated and was reckoned at about 238 people in 2008.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
