Mosier Valley, the first freedmen's town in Tarrant County
1870
Mosier Valley, Fort Worth, Texas
Robert and Dilsie Johnson were given forty acres of Trinity bottomland in 1870, and about ten more emancipated families who had been worked on the Mosier place settled the same stretch of river. They farmed cotton and corn, founded a church in 1874 and got a school in 1883. The airport, the freeways and the warehouses of the Mid-Cities grew up around the valley and left a few streets of it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
